SHELF LIFE AND HANDLING
- The kit contains ready-to-use Proteinase K which is dissolved in a specially prepared storage buffer. The Proteinase K should be stored at -20°C. The Proteinase K is a white turbid solution. A white precipitate is formed upon storage. Make sure to re-suspend the white precipitate by vortexing before use.
- This kit is stable for 2 years after the date of shipment.

FAQs
The procedure can be scaled down for smaller volumes. The kit manual includes a table to help with calculations.
The final DNA pellet should be resuspended in DNase-free TE buffer, which is not supplied with the kit.
To obtain a higher concentration of DNA, please use half the volume of TE buffer mentioned in calculation table (refer to product manual). It is not recommended to use lower than half the volume of TE buffer mentioned in the calculation table.
Large amounts of high molecular DNA can be very slow to rehydrate (dissolve) completely. Incubate at 55 °C for 30 minutes with occasional vortexing to aid in the process. Incomplete rehydration of the DNA will affect estimating the DNA concentration and can result in failure of downstream applications such as SNP, digestion and PCR.
Saliva DNA Isolation Reagent kit is optimized to work with saliva preserved with chemical preservatives only, for example, saliva preserved with Norgen's Saliva DNA collection and preservation devices. To isolate DNA from fresh saliva samples, please use our Saliva DNA isolation kit which can process both fresh and preserved saliva samples.
